Revolutionizing the way enzymes are discovered – This is the motto of the latest EOSS company. With its enzyme Google, Innophore has made it onto the shortlist for the Fast Forward Award 2017 in the category Institutions and Research Institutions.
Industry is increasingly using enzymes to manufacture drugs and chemicals, but researching them is time-consuming and expensive. The “Enzyme Google” developed by Innophore provides a remedy. It is a combination of database and search engine. The Catalophore search filters out enzyme functions from a store of hundreds of thousands of structural data. It even finds catalytic capabilities that have never been described before. The selected enzyme proposals are analyzed bioinformatically, produced biotechnologically and tested in the laboratory. This project made it to the finals of SFG’s Fast Forward Award. The Google enzyme was finally presented to around 350 decision-makers from business, science and politics at the Schauspielhaus in Graz on September 13, 2017.
